Er Lu Disc 1 and 2:

These two disks cover the form of Er Lu-Pao Chui and all kinds of applications. These disks cover in depth teaching step by step through the Pao Chui form (as much as we could catch on film.) These disks do not have a continuous form performance, (for that see the Yi Lu-Er Lu Set.) They contain detailed instruction of movements as sections with many off the cuff applications from the form.

This is a rare view of Taijiquan from the Chen ZhaoKui line by ChenYu, a very high level Chen Taijiquan master freely teaching and showing applications that are spontaneous, amazing, and very real. This is what Chen Taijiquan should be. If you are interested in Chen Gongfu, you can only love this. This is the kind of thing everyone wants to see. The form instruction is slow and detailed; fucusing on body method and intention, though bristling with energy. The applications and tuishou are useful, and realistic, and pretty wild. This set is not available in wide distribution and will only be produced in limited number. I have never seen anything like it produced for Taijiquan before.

All discs are "DVD" format. Instruction and discussion is Chinese (mandarin) as of yet. The translation become a very big job due to technological issues, so the rest of it will have to wait for financial and time allowances.

The filming is mostly unrehearsed and natural. The source material comes from Chinese VCD's so the video quality is only perhaps a bit better than that would be, it is not digital HD video, but clear enough to see what is happening. The original source material that this was transferred from was not perfect and occasionally there are small dropped frames, nothing I could do about it. The advantage to DVD is that the media is more reliable, will last longer and have less or no playback issues on a wide range of systems. The visual quality is I think also a bit better due to the type of video compression used.

These discs are not available in stores in China or elsewhere. They are only available through this website (and through Master ChenYu in VCD format in Mandarin only. There is a lot of quality here for both people hoping to learn or experienced hoping to see something great. These DVDs have lots...I mean lots of applications, and a clear view of the depth of Master ChenYu's Taijiquan.
